MoreSense's technology

MoreSense's technology combines the unique properties of Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR), resulting in a transducer specific to a target molecule.

Let's start with the basics...

What are MIPs?

MIPs (Molecularly Imprinted Polymers) are synthetic materials containing specific molecular recognition sites, widely used as receptors because of their good chemical stability and selectivity. MoreSense actively applies its innovative approach to MIPs in order to selectively implement systems of targeted substance detection.

What is SPR technology?

It is based on the optical phenomenon of surface plasmon resonance, which is exploited as a technique to detect a change in refractive index at the interface between a metallic element (layer or particles) and a dielectric medium. In our case, the dielectric medium consists of a MIP specific to a substance of interest, the refractive index of which undergoes a change upon interaction with the analyte.

The Spectra Technology

MoreSense's technology works by harnessing the unique properties of Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR), enabling accurate, real-time detection and measurement of environmental contaminants (such as PFASs), illegal substances, pathogens (such as SARS-CoV-2), and more.
I really believe that there is a lot to be gained from photonics. I realized the importance of having this polymer that really is the focal part of a system of measurements skills own mechanical, mixed mechanical-electronic design, etc. belong in this case also biology belong to very few companies even among semiconductors.

MoreSense addresses an existing pressing problem important to the world today: that of environmental protection, if you will in a broad sense.
The sensors developed by MoreSense offer an accuracy that I have not seen in other products on the market at the moment. The combination of physics, engineering, and biology is becoming more and more common especially and also in the sensor field.

-Former CEO of STMicroelectronics

The technology that combines synthetic receptors with optical transduction systems can be reprogrammed to go to what we decide: it can go from explosives to drugs of abuse, to pharmaceuticals, and even to pathogens. Recently we have developed and patented a system for the determination of SARS-CoV-2. Normally to analyze such different analytes typically requires extremely different instrumentation....

There is an increasing push toward real-time monitoring, so with specific sensors, but detecting in real-time, possibly even online, communicating data to a platform through IOT integration, and no longer relying on a current sampling system. So transportation of the sample to the laboratory, and analysis in the laboratory, which dilutes the time so much, the costs are high, and you cannot have real-time monitoring.

Chiara Perri

-Biotechnologist - Ph.D. in electrical engineering

We have developed several applications combined with biomimetic receptors, and worth this long experience of field applications, we decided to carry out the technology transfer and co-founded MoreSense together with other partners with whom we have already been working for some time. We have demonstrated the versatility of this approach, both in terms of being able to modulate the sensitivity of the transducer and in terms of reconfiguring the molecular imprinting within these receptors.

Prof. Nunzio Cennamo

-Co-founder and chief electronics engineer

Here today we are developing two eh sensors: one that is electronic and the other is optical. They're fast, they're very accurate, they're extremely selective, they're cheap, and they're remotely manageable, for example.

The methods that are used around the world today don't see under 4,000 viruses per milliliter, we see eight viruses per milliliter. So the sensitivity is extremely high, they are very very promising.
